New Ji-won.
A few screenshots of AI's website have been able to produce a "looks like" page quickly. But what about the real operation? Will the shopping cart be updated when the commodities page is added; can the status just now be maintained after the page is switched?
UI2App is concerned with the problem: without functional descriptions, without click tracks or interactive demonstrations, with static UI screenshots, can models deduce and achieve the implicit application? We call this capability Interaction Inference.

Thesis Figure 1: Under the same set of screenshots and the same operating sequence, a higher visual reduction does not guarantee that the logic of the shopping vehicle ' s state is correctly achieved.
There is a real need to see a preferred product interface and to hope that AI will make a similar application that can be run and interactive.
For users who do not have a product or a development background, a screenshot, draft or reference product is itself a more natural expression; they are concerned not only with the image of the page, but also with the ability of the button to use it, the ability of the data to move and the ability to change the post-page state.
This is precisely the missing link between the existing assessments: Screenshot-to-Code mostly focuses on visual similarities, while some interactive generation tasks provide prominent behavioural guidance. UI2App is concerned that, when only static amplifications are given, the model is able to infer and realize the underlying application behaviour.
UI2App contains 600 screenshots, a multi-page Web application consisting of 95 groups of consistent status, with 3 to 14 screenshots per assignment and 665 "Application-interactive categories" evaluation items. The model sees only static transects, does not obtain operational trails or additional behavioural instructions, and needs to generate operational multipage applications accordingly.
To accomplish this task, models are needed to understand UI structures and semantics, extrapolate the interaction implied in the screenshot, and then translate these judgements into a state management coordinated between shared components, routers and cross-pages, leading to an operational React application.
The results are evaluated from three dimensions: whether they can really be constructed and run (EXEC), how similar they are to the screenshot (VFS), and whether the interaction implied in the screenshot can be inferred and realized (IIS).
The IIS checks whether these acts are covered, if they actually produce the desired results, and if the relevant state is correctly maintained between the components and the page, on the basis of inferable interactions in the screenshot. Clicking, filtering, shopping cars, etc. are not only "reacting" but also making the right and consistent changes.
From the button to the shopping cart, the state range is complex. degrees
UI2App covers switches, roll-out/folding, list operations, data additions and deletions, form validation, notification feedback and cross-page status 7 categories, and differentiates complexity according to status range: S1 is a local UI state, such as buttons, drop-down frames or tabs; S2 involves a data status shared by multiple components, such as search, sorting and CRUD; and S3 requires a continued state of cross-routing, such as in a shopping cart, login or editing. From a local button, to a data connection on the same page, to a page-to-page retention, this divide corresponds to the increasing complexity of the state management and allows the analysis to remain more than a total score, but further differentiates the model ' s performance on a local UI, shared data and across the page.
In this set of assessments, VFS and IIS presented a different sort of model. Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview received the first visual return with 73.2 VFS, but IS 8.1 ranked fourth, Claude Sonet 4.6 VFS 71.3, slightly less than Gemini, but IS 36.8, the highest value in the current assessment.
This means that, at least on UI2App, the visual reduction score does not directly represent an interactive extrapolation of performance. Even the maximum IIS is only 36.8/100, indicating that there is considerable room for improvement in extrapolation and realization of application behaviour only from static transects; therefore, only visual reduction may overestimate the actual realization of the model ' s interaction with applications.
In the most complex S3 cross-routing state, all but the best performers scored no more than 3.5 and only 15.8/100 for the best.
The difficulty of such interaction is not just to bind the event to the button: the system also infer what information should be shared and allow the state to continue after the route switch. Shopping carts, log-ins or cross-page editing are therefore more dependent on complete and consistent state management than local buttons, drop-down frames.
When only static transects are entered, the model is not just about visual reconstruction: It will also need to determine how the elements are connected, what data will be changed by an operation and where these changes should continue to take effect from multiple interfaces. What we're looking at here is an understanding of the behavior of the application, not just a reduction in the look of the page.
UI2App presents this layer of capability separately from the visual recapitulation and quantization, allowing for both "capability" and "improvement and realization of the cross-section of the screenshot."
It has also turned an issue that can be easily masked by visual effects into a measurable object of research: whether models can infer applied behaviour only from limited visual observations and translate this understanding into truly operational interactions.
As a result, the question is no longer whether the page can be reproduced, but rather whether the application can be deduced and realized from visual clues, providing a comparable basis for the more autonomous Screenshot-to-App generation.
