Unite.AI

Partnerships
Ebix and Intentyx Launch SMARE to Track AI Agent Behavior
Add Unite.AI to your preferred sources on Google
Ebix on November 2, 2026 announced a design and delivery partnership with cybersecurity company intentyx, launching an agentic AI security and governance offering for regulated industries. The offering is built around SMARE (Synthetic Mind Aware Risk Engine), intentyx’s behavioral security and governance platform for discovering enterprise AI agents, establishing accountability and detecting when agent behavior moves outside its approved business purpose or security boundaries.
Ebix will bring SMARE to clients across insurance, financial services, healthcare and other regulated industries, combining the technology with its industry knowledge and enterprise integration experience. intentyx’s partnership page describes the arrangement as a strategic partnership spanning collaborative design, enterprise integration and delivery, and customer adoption, with focus areas in insurance, healthcare, financial services and business operations.
The Behavioral Control Gap
Ebix said traditional security controls address only part of the problem as AI agents access data, use tools, make decisions and take actions across business systems. An agent may hold valid credentials and permission to use a system while still taking a sequence of actions the business never intended, which Ebix said creates a new control requirement for regulated enterprises: visibility into what an agent is actually doing, not only what it is allowed to do.
Ebix said the market around this problem is developing rapidly. The company pointed to reports that major U.S. banks have detected unauthorized third-party AI agents operating inside customer accounts, with some agents attempting actions beyond explicit user instructions, prompting banks to tighten controls around agent access. It also said regulators are increasing their focus on agentic AI, including stronger calls for human oversight and controls as autonomous agents move into critical financial and enterprise systems.
intentyx frames the same gap as “allowed does not mean intended” on its SMARE platform page: traditional controls establish identity, access and permissions, while behavioral security asks whether an AI agent is still behaving the way it was intended to. intentyx says existing security controls remain essential, and that SMARE adds a behavioral layer by detecting when an agent’s observed actions deviate from its intended purpose even when those actions are technically permitted.
How SMARE Evaluates Agent Behavior
According to Ebix, SMARE combines available evidence from AI platforms, business applications, cloud environments, identity systems and existing security tools to create a connected view of agent activity. That activity is evaluated against enterprise security policies and each agent’s approved Design Intent, which defines the agent’s purpose, expected actions, authorized tools and data boundaries.
intentyx says SMARE continuously discovers and contextualizes enterprise AI, including Shadow AI, across supported data sources, mapping applications, agents, tools, models, interactions and ownership. It describes Design Intent as the approved expression of why an agent exists, the outcomes it may pursue, the assets and actions it may use and the constraints it must respect. Once trust boundaries are set, the platform continuously analyzes behavior against organizational policies, approved Design Intent and behavioral baselines, then correlates evidence to support investigations.
SMARE can identify policy violations, unusual behavior and behavioral drift while preserving the evidence required by security, compliance and operations teams, according to Ebix. The platform is designed to work alongside existing identity, security and monitoring infrastructure, adding a control layer specifically around AI.
Availability and Executive Statements
SMARE is commercially available now through Ebix and intentyx. It can be deployed as a multi-tenant SaaS platform or within a customer’s own environment when security, data residency or operational requirements call for greater control, and intentyx says it observes and correlates evidence across an environment without requiring every agent interaction to pass through SMARE.
Ebix said it can support organizations from initial AI estate assessment and governance design through platform integration, deployment, monitoring and investigation.
“We believe agent governance and behavioral security will become a major enterprise security category in 2027 and beyond,” said Gagan Sethi, CEO of Ebix Technologies, in Ebix’s announcement. Sethi said Ebix is entering the market with the technology already running in its own environment, alongside deep expertise across AI for regulated industries and an established global client base.
intentyx founder Nitin Supekar said that as enterprises give AI agents access to more applications, data and tools, security teams face a major challenge in understanding AI activities as well as access. He said SMARE was built to provide that visibility and the evidence required to investigate when behavior moves outside approved intent.
