- Kimi-K3(总参数 2.8T / 激活 104B)
- DeepSeek-V4-Pro-Base(总参数 1.6T / 激活 49B)
- Inkling(总参数 975B / 激活 41B)
- Nemotron-550B-Base(总参数 550B / 激活 55B)
Ali 直言,RSI(递归自我改进)确有其事。

New Ji-won.
We just witnessed history!
Recently, there are two pounds of publish in the area of "revolutional self-improvement".
Over the past decade, a cornerstone of LLM has been pre-trained as a "war-prepared race" for technology giants.
In open-source communities, this requires dozens of top experts.
At Silicon Valley ' s Ai Laboratory, this will require hundreds of people to attack the laws of architecture and expansion, clean up trillions of Token ' s data and watch thousands of GPUs day and night to prevent cluster collapse.
But today, this seemingly impenetrable Iron Curtain was torn apart!
Two start-up companies almost at the same time threw out of King's bomb and threw RSI back into reality from the concept of science fiction.
As soon as the news emerged, the whole of Silicon Valley ' s Ai ring boiled, with countless practitioners with cold backs and insomnia at night.
Today's first nuclear bomb came from the original company, Mirendil.
They announced a crazy experiment to push "human leverage" to extremes: with just one researcher, a parameter count model of programming between 100 billion and 500 billion -- Mirendil-Base!
It takes less than $10 million in computing power (including all previous exploration experiments and Token consumption in Agent) for 3.5 months.
The most confusing is the details:
Starting with an empty code library, the project did not buy any commercial authorized data, did not distill or synthesize data with any model, and was based solely on PyTorch, JAX and publicly available GitHub code and web data.
So who did all this in the past require a training infrastructure with a division of labour among large companies, model architecture improvements, data matching optimization, and Kernel optimization?
The answer is: AI AI agent (Agents) has prepared over 99% of the code, ran all the experiments and even diagnosed training failures!
And the only human researcher, in the course of 3.5 months, did only two things: to decide what to try and what to do, and to determine what to believe.
You think a single-person model is just a toy? Look at the results, everyone's silent.
In its predictions, the Mirendil team directly pulled out the top five monster-scale programming models from the market:
- Kimi-K3 (total parameter 2.8T / activated 104B)
- DeepSeek-V4-Pro-Base (total parameter 1.6T / activated 49B)
- Inkling (total parameter 975B / activated 41B)
- GLM-5.3 (total parameter 753B / activated 40B)
- Nemotron-550B-Base (total parameter 550B / activated 55B)
In the face of these tens of billions of parameters, the MoE (mixed expert) giant, 100B-500B-scale Mirendil-Base, who stands behind hundreds of top teams, not only played back and forth, but even scored amazingly high scores in the new publish external code library tests after many trainings!
Bits per byte for fair comparison of crosswords, as low as possible
Worse still, it's just the beginning. Mirendil revealed that the larger Mirendil-Base-Large (500B-2T parameter) has been trained 80%, while the flagship Mirendil-Base-XL (2T-10T parameter, real billion-class giants) has just reached 19% and its performance is approaching the current score of the Large version!
Moreover, their next generation models will be built directly by Mirendil-Base itself.
Another original enterprise, Recursive, formally publish, has a 40 billion-billion-billion (40B) programming model for open weight.
In a short context scenario, Flint generates more than 125 Tokens per second on MacBook Pro, which carries M4 Pro chips, and over 150 Tokens per second on 64GB version NVIDIA RTX Spark, up to twice the speed of the model.
In the AI agent programming baseline test, in a hybrid expert (MoE) model with a total parameter count below 50 billion, Flint took the lead.
Its performance is comparable to that of the strongest denser model of the size of the total parameter, which runs much faster.
And what's even more surprising is that Flint is itself a "accompanied gift" and that the real character is behind it, the Eureka Machine -- a system that automatically completes the idea of a test to determine the complete next step research cycle.
Using this actual delivery model, Flint, it proves that automated research does make things, not just running toy experiments.
The goal of Recursive is to create super-intellectual intelligence capable of self-improvement that can be used to automate knowledge discovery.
Mirendil is "a command of AI, reducing manpower and time to the extreme" and Recursive is "a highly automated research process with Eureka Machine."
Both companies are aiming at each other.
The stronger the AI programmability, the faster the AI scientific research, the faster the AI builds a stronger generation of AI.
Close the ring, before our eyes!
Ion Stoica, a professor at the University of California at Berkeley and co-founder of the Databricks, is acclaimed.
As the people of the world say, "Quickly, it will depend only on two things: how well you calculate and how well you find the loop."
The wheel of history rolls forward, but those who have been run over feel the chill.
After reading about Mirendil and Recursive, a junior researcher who had just entered the industry was completely detoxified. He sent a private letter late in the night to Ali Hatamizadeh, a senior researcher at NVIDIA, who was filled with frustration and fear:
The whole pre-training process was one person, no development team, nothing...
If one person adds a cluster of calculations and can finish the work of the entire team, does it not take me so many years to build up my professional skills that it's out of date before the heat?
This anxiety, today, is spreading wildly in countless AI labs and programmers.
In the face of the fear of a young colleague, Ali, instead of making chicken soup, wrote an extremely hard-core, and even some strung, long story to all the technicians: Don't get scared by marketing titles! You're not out of date, but your job has changed!
Ali has torn the bottom logic behind the "single-train billion model" and points out the four main ways of survival of ordinary researchers in the RSI era:
First, understand the reality and stop living on the old formula.
Ali put it bluntly, RSI did.
In September of this year, Open AI disclosed the AI agent workload recorded by its research department, which has already reached 3.1 Z42Z workdays per human working day, and plans to "automated AI Fellows" by March 2028. If your five-year plan also assumes that AI will not take over pre-training, then change the plan early.
But why can one of Mirendil's individuals teach models? Because the standard pre-training formula is fully mature and open!
Large plants have already fed open source weights and detailed technical reports to their mouths.
As long as there's enough power, it's not hard to get a good model out of the open conventional architecture (e.g., with a slide window). This is the time to solve "implementation and budget problems", not "scientific problems."
"If your main job is simply to re-route the last year's training programme and to change data, the space for such work is rapidly shrinking."
This is the most uncomfortable truth: the old job of "recovering now productive" as a child has been smashed by AI.
Second, AI ate the power of execution, and "judgment" became your new job.
Now that AI has written 99% code, why do we need humans? Because automated science is at the most critical point, and it's not running!
For example, on the Einstein Arena platform, AI AI agent did update the record of 11 unresolved mathematical problems (the best known bottom line in the 11-dimensional range was raised from 593 to 604).
But the premise is that humans have defined problems in advance and have written automatic scoring codes. And the "All-AI-generated papers through peer review" that blew up a few days ago took a look at the details: It's only passed a seminar with a 70% reception rate, first instance, non-mainstream, and later it was withdrawn.
Within Open AI, more than half of the tasks that people need to spend 4-8 hours on, and AI agent finally succeeds, still require at least one manual intervention.
Why? Because AI agent gives the answer very quickly, the tone is always full of confidence. It's going to rush to tell you that "a certain indicator has soared three points!" It's also very nicely accompanied by a digestion experiment and a self-expressed set of explanations.
But what's the truth? Three points could be completely false. It comes from data leaks in the evaluation, bottom of the data loader, Bugs, random seeds that happen to be in traffic, or not matching words!
In the era of zero implementation costs, the judgment to "determine which experiment to do, which results to believe, which direction to give up" is your ironiest new job!
The speed of AI agent, coupled with your own thinking and judgment, even if you are a junior researcher, can suddenly become a "ten times more efficient researcher."
Third, the paradox of the times: the more you give the job to AI, the more you get it. Hard
A lot of new people would think, "Well, now that I'm going to be a judge, don't I have to learn the bottom code, just how to direct AI?"
Ali gave a warning: this is the paradox of the era -- the more jobs are given to AI agent, the more important your basic work is. Because you can never monitor what you don't understand!
As you can see at first sight, AI's run out of the system is gruesome, based on an understanding of how the loss curve grew in this shape. What's the scale of the increase to fit the laws of physics? What kind of "good enough to be suspicious"?
How do you do that? Ali gave the most concrete advice:
- Hand-made wheels: Attention of at least one-time attention mechanism, and a linear variant such as Gated DeltaNet.
- Destroying experiments: training a small model from the beginning to the end, then deliberately breaking it and seeing what happens when it collapses.
- Read the paper with questions: don't forget the appendix, before seeing the author's experimental figures, build expectations of reasonable results in mind.
With this hard-core knowledge, you can really command the machine, not what it says, and what you believe.
Fourth, LLM is far from being studied.
Finally, don't think LLM has nothing to study.
A man can teach the base model only because the old road has been flattened. Ali directly listed seven golden topics that no one has been able to solve so far, one that you can eat for life:
- Less sample efficient learning: how to learn more with less data?
- New architecture explores: Can linear attention like Gated DeltaNet catch up with search and long context missions? How do you compare the two in a hybrid structure?
- Continuous learning: how can models continue to learn after training, without forgetting the knowledge already acquired?
- Reliability of long-range reasoning: Why is it less reliable when the task is long? How?
- Eradicating hallucinations: Why do models make content? Can they learn to be honest with me?
- A new system of assessment: how do we measure whether the model actually advances when the benchmark test results are saturated or when the test content is mixed into training data?
- Interpretability and control: What happened inside the model? In the face of increasingly autonomous models, how can they be ensured that they act in accordance with human intentions?
You see, instead of bringing research to the end, the retrograde self-improvement (AAI) has made these issues more urgent than ever!
If models are really to be trained in the future, someone has to decide what they should optimize. How do we measure it? And how do we prevent this cycle of self-evolution from going astray?
The machine is getting better and better at running along the highway we've paved; but where's the next road?
